From being a student in the heart of the Bauhaus movement and throughout his life, Victor Vasarely was inspired by the various artistic movements that wove throughout the 20th century. He created paintings and sculptures using optical illusions in a kind of geometric abstract art, experimenting with shapes, colours, patterns and effects. The curators of the exhibition achieve a twofold objective. The first is, of course, to trace the chronological and thematic evolution of the artist and his production; the second to show how he left his mark on the popular culture of the 60s and 70s.
