Yves Klein in the spotlight at the Atelier des Lumières
This isn’t the first time that the C.O.Q. Hotel has recommended the Atelier des Lumières, and it won’t be the last because this enchanting place continues to fascinate us. And the new multimedia immersive experience dedicated to Yves Klein being presented by this wonderful digital art museum is sure to deepen our fondness still further!
The Atelier des Lumières is simply magical
Designed on the same principle as the Carrières de Lumières in Les Baux de Provence, the Atelier des Lumières uses a unique space to its full advantage by projecting works of art on all surfaces in a dynamic way. The immense spaces of this former foundry serve as a wraparound canvas for animated projections to give visitors the sensation of stepping inside the works being presented. After Klimt and Van Gogh's Starry Night, the Atelier now takes you to meet Yves Klein and his Infinite Blue.
Yves Klein: Infinite Blue
An important figure in post-war European art and a leading member of the new realism movement, Yves Klein discovered while still a student the use of monochrome as a source of inspiration. He became attached to a particularly intense ultramarine blue that he created, and which became known as International Klein Blue. The Atelier des Lumières exhibition gives this colour an unequalled depth but goes beyond the artist’s Blue Epoch thanks to a selection of some 90 works. This focus on Yves Klein offers a magnificent parallel with the other exhibition currently in progress and devoted to the Mediterranean through the works of Chagall, Monet and Renoir.
Discover the Infinite Blue of Yves Klein at the Atelier des Lumières. This place is a long-time favourite of your C.O.Q. Hotel team as it allows visitors to become totally immersed in the art.
