Van Gogh at the Atelier des Lumières; an illuminating experience

Published on March 20, 2019 in Paris "OUT"

The Atelier des Lumières offers an illuminating experience that immerses the visitor completely in an artist’s work. This new digital art centre is currently showcasing the work of Vincent Van Gogh. The C.O.Q Hotel team warmly recommends an experience that creates a sense of wonder and awe at the astonishing creativity of this visionary artist...

The Atelier des Lumières and Van Gogh

The vast spaces of this former foundry, a witness to the industrial past of Paris, lends itself perfectly to the magic of the Atelier des Lumières. Van Gogh's canvases are projected on the walls, ceilings, floors and other surfaces so that the effects of perspective, magnification, animation and vibrant colours can plunge you into the heart of the work, making you feel every brushstroke, every nuance. It gives you a fresh perspective on some familiar and much-loved paintings.

An artistic journey

The experience encourages you to reflect on the work of Van Gogh, his mastery of light and colour, and his intoxicating style. This form of presentation also allows you to proceed at your own pace and enjoy it in your own way. Some prefer to stay still and savour the play of the master's paintings, while others enjoy walking, turning, and otherwise physically engaging with the art as it moves around them. The musical accompaniment also adds to the ambiance, helping to take you out of yourself and making it easier to focus on the emotions produced by the works. It’s utterly mesmerising!

Your Hotel C.O.Q invites you to step out of its beloved neighbourhood to partake of a beautiful synergy of art and technology. You still have plenty of time to get there as the exhibition is scheduled to run until December 31st.
